MISSION STATEMENT:

Chreso’s mission statement is to meet the social, psychological, economical, medical/physical and academic needs of people in an effort to achieve sustainable development.

CHRESO MINISTRIES IS A

Faith based non profit organization registered under the laws of Zambia . It has been in operation since 1996 and is located along Nangwenya road on plot number 17734 behind University of Zambia . The Ministry has grown from a mobile clinic to a fully fledged VCT/ART centre and has over 3500 clients on ART and care.

Under the VCT/ART center, the Ministry employs over 26 qualified personnel among them are medical doctors, nurse counselors, pharmacists and lab technicians while the rest are supporting staff.  The VCT/ART center has the capacity to carry baseline tests on site including the CD4 count tests.

Apart from running a VCT/ART center the Ministry is involved in a number of HIV/AIDS responses including a school for whose majority population are orphaned girl children in Siavonga and community HIV/AIDS awareness programs. The activities of the Ministry have in the past mainly been in Lusaka and southern provinces were HIV/AIDS awareness programs have been given the due attention. We do realize that awareness is central in changing behavior and lifestyles.

In order to promote pediatric VCT and ART treatment in the country, the Ministry is running a campaign dubbed “pediatric VCT through parents” to fill in gaps left by other campaigns. This is in trying to change the course of direction of HIV/AIDS awareness program which have largely focused on the adult population in many ways. The Ministry will try to provide training and awareness programs on pediatric VCT and to NGOs, FBOs, CBOs and other interested groups. These training programs will not only be tools to awareness but impact greatly on communities by producing the needed pediatric community educators available in all towns.
